Relocating to St. Louis? ✈️ Here’s What I Wish More People Knew Before Making a Big Move Here
Here’s what I wish more people knew before making a big move here.
One of the biggest surprises for relocators is how different every area in St. Louis feels. Some people want walkability and nightlife, while others care more about schools, space, or keeping their commute under 30 minutes. I recently worked with buyers who originally thought they wanted to live close to work, but after talking through their lifestyle and priorities, they realized another area fit them so much better. That’s exactly why I created my “Moving to the Lou” guide — to help buyers understand which neighborhoods actually fit their day-to-day life before committing to a home.
Another thing I always tell clients: it’s okay if your timeline doesn’t line up perfectly. I’ve had buyers move here before finding the right house, and instead of rushing into something stressful, they stayed in an Airbnb temporarily while we kept searching. A few extra weeks gave them time to explore different areas and ultimately find a home they truly loved instead of settling under pressure.
Moving somewhere new can also feel overwhelming when you don’t know who to trust. Having reliable vendors and professional inspections makes such a difference. I recently worked with buyers who felt nervous during inspections until we brought in one of my trusted third-party inspectors. We ended up uncovering nearly $18,000 in repairs that the sellers fixed before closing, which gave my clients so much peace of mind moving forward with the home.
At the end of the day, my goal is never just helping you buy a house, it’s helping you feel comfortable, confident, and at home in St. Louis before you even unpack.
